What motivates you to be sustainable?

I feel pretty strongly that I have a moral obligation to look after the planet for no other reason that it's the Right Thing to do. I also think that it's important to look after the planet for future generations.

What do you think?

It isn't my place to ruin the environment for future generations, and it is everyone's responsibility to look after it. Big or small steps, everything makes a difference.

It makes sense and feels good. Doing the right thing, IS the right thing to do. We all play our part and none are excused. Do what you can, where you can. Sustainability is about caring for each other and caring for our children our grandchildren and our planet.

Nothing lasts forever

It is natural to me now, I don't even need to think about it. I do it for the environment first because it is beautiful to me and I want my kids to experience it after I am gone.

If governments prevented importers from buying goods from companies that demolished forests and countries that poluted our air to make product, then the world would last forever. And I'd be far more impressed when government and their beaurocracy stopped all their wastage before preaching to the rest of us.

I agree with jimbo that it takes action from a top level of government to really induce sustainable change. However, I think discussion is good. Public awareness on the concept of sustainability is needed so as to be able to embrace and lever new technology, business and policy as it is created. Oh and its bureaucrasy...
