The ENERGYWISE grants are now bigger and better than ever before! Both the amount of funding and eligibility for the grants have been increased to help make New Zealand homes drier and warmer.
Under the new criteria, homeowners can apply for a grant for up to one third of the cost of energy efficiency improvements (capped at $1125 inc. GST). Insulation, clean heating and other energy efficiency measures are all eligible. As an added boost, all houses with inadequate insulation built before 1 January 2000 are now eligible for an ENERGYWISE grant.
Previously the grants were capped at $560, or 10 percent, of the cost of the improvements, and were only available for houses built before 1978.
Insulating and efficiently heating your home makes it healthier, drier and warmer to live in. It can also help save money on your energy bills and reduce the impact of energy use on our environment.
The Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority, which administers the ENERGYWISE grants, has a range of funding options available. These cover low and middle-income home owners, as well as landlords.
