Nationwide campaign to highlight travel choices

15 September 2008

Land Transport New Zealand has launched a new advertising campaign focusing on travel choices - the first of their sustainability campaigns. Sustainable travel choice is an important environmental issue - increasing demand for motorised travel results in more carbon dioxide, more harmful pollutants, more congestion and more use of finite resources. The aim of the campaign is to get people to think about leaving their car at home and considering other travel options, such as public transport, walking and cycling or sharing a ride. It also aims to make people aware that their travel choices can be more sustainable. The campaign will focus on the benefits of shared and active transport modes, such as saving money, improved health, more time to read/study, environmental benefits and enjoying time with friends and family. The television component of the campaign launched on 20 April and will be supported with print, online and other advertising. For more information, visit LTNZ's website.
