Nominations are now open for the 2008 Green Ribbon Awards, which honour New Zealand's environmental heroes. The Awards serve as a brilliant example of the initiatives New Zealanders are taking to protect the environment and become more sustainable. Nominations are open to all individuals, businesses and community organisations which are putting their commitment to the environment into action. This year's 18th Green Ribbon Awards is being promoted in conjunction with New Zealand's hosting of World Environment Day on 5 June. The Awards, which are usually held on World Environment Day, will this year take place on Tuesday 3 June in the Wellington Town Hall to mark the beginning of World Environment Day celebrations throughout the country. As World Environment Day focuses on Climate Change, the award categories have been updated to reflect the many different areas in which Kiwis contribute to reducing the impacts of Climate Change.
