Wellington Freeze's for World Environment Day

5 June 2008

Over 200 people froze in central Wellington on Thursday 5 June as part of World Environment Day celebrations.

The Freeze happened on Lambton Quay during the lunch-time rush. Bemused onlookers watched as over 200 people materialised, stopped in their tracks and froze for five minutes. At the sound of a saxophone, the freezers found their legs again and the crowd rapidly dispersed.

Organised by Intersect, a network of young professionals interested in sustainability, the event was aimed at making people stop and think about how our actions impact upon the environment.

If you missed the action, footage can be found on the Intersect website and on the Dominion Post website.
